The digital infrastructure implemented in the ROLF SANDVOSS INNOVATION CENTER constitutes the ideal base for the research, development and testing of SAMSON products for all Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 environments.

More than 200 test instruments are operated in the ROLF SANDVOSS INNOVATION CENTER based on a fully integrated measuring and automation system. The digital infrastructure makes it possible to perform real-time tests including simulations of various plant and operating conditions. Based on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations, different plants can be tested in combination with SAMSON control valves.

The sensor, control valve and maintenance data collected in the ROLF SANDVOSS INNOVATION CENTER are evaluated, which enables SAMSON to completely aggregate all data for analysis and visualization. As a result, new approaches for control, monitoring, diagnostic and safety tasks can be implemented.

In addition, SAMSON focuses on developing algorithms for valve diagnostics and the predictive maintenance of control valves, processes, plant sections surrounding the valves and entire plant systems.

Thanks to the communication infrastructure installed throughout the ROLF SANDVOSS INNOVATION CENTER, test data can be archived as usual, but it is also possible to record real-time data through links to cloud computing systems. One of these systems is our SAM DIGITAL HUB.

The communication infrastructure also helps ensure that the smart SAMSON products are compatible with all common process control, engineering and asset management systems. SAMSON‘s Smart Valve Integration Center, which is integrated into the ROLF SANDVOSS INNOVATION CENTER, provides the right facilities for these purposes, for example to investigate positioner integration into modern process control systems. In addition, SAMSON can show customers how the products handle different communication protocols, such as HART®, PROFIBUS® PA and FOUNDATION™ fieldbus. Nevertheless, work in the ROLF SANDVOSS INNOVATION CENTER is focused on applying new integration technologies, including FDI and UPC UA, and developing products that are suitable for the communication channels of the future. An essential element of the digital infrastructure is that connections to cloud-computing systems have been implemented, for example to SAM DIGITAL HUB.
