After 25 years at the helm of the Supervisory Board, Dr Nikolaus Hensel stepped down as Chairman on 29 September 2026 and, at his own request, also resigned from the Supervisory Board.
This marks the end of an exceptionally long era for SAMSON. Dr Hensel had been a member of the Supervisory Board since 1977 and served as its Chairman from 2001. For almost five decades, he accompanied the company and played a significant role in shaping its development.
During this period, SAMSON evolved from a specialist in measurement and control technology with strong roots in Germany into an internationally active group of companies. Dr Hensel supported this development over many years, consistently keeping the company’s long-term future in view. For him, this included fostering research and technological development, expanding SAMSON’s international presence, developing its corporate structures and, later, advancing its digital transformation.
His focus, however, was never solely on short-term financial results. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board, he was committed to preserving SAMSON’s independence while at the same time creating the conditions that would allow a family-owned company with a long tradition to continually renew itself. For him, continuity and change were not opposites, but two essential foundations for a successful future.
This approach is also reflected in the largest transformation project in SAMSON’s history. From the outset, Dr Hensel was closely involved in MainChange and in the decision to establish the company’s new site in Offenbach. Alongside the strategic and economic considerations, he also engaged extensively with the technological and energy-related aspects of the new location. The project therefore exemplifies an ambition that shaped his work on the Supervisory Board for many years: to position SAMSON for long-term competitiveness while preserving the company’s character and independence.
Above all, SAMSON will remember his extraordinary and longstanding commitment to the company. Across generations of Executive Board members, employees and shareholders, Dr Hensel has been a trusted companion, a critical sounding board and a source of valuable impetus. His contribution embodies a combination of entrepreneurial responsibility, personal commitment and the conviction that decisions should be made not only for the present, but with future generations in mind.
The Executive Board, Supervisory Board and employees of SAMSON would like to thank Dr Nikolaus Hensel for almost five decades of exceptional dedication, for his support and counsel, and above all for the trust he placed in the company and the respect and appreciation he showed to everyone at SAMSON.
His contribution will remain an enduring part of SAMSON.
For the future, we wish Dr Nikolaus Hensel good health and personal well-being, as well as the same energy and curiosity that have characterised his many years of commitment to business, science, culture and society in Frankfurt.
Diana Mancic, previously Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board, will assume the chair until a new Chair is elected.
