For safety-critical processes, SAMSON offers intelligent Safety Instrumented Systems (SIL 2 and SIL 3 according to IEC 61508/IEC 61511) to ensure reliable, standards-compliant, and cost-effective operation – even under extreme conditions.

Our single-channel (SIL 2) and dual-channel (SIL 3) systems consist of perfectly matched valves, controllers, and sensors. Proof of the achieved safety level, including PFD values, is documented by a manufacturer’s declaration.

Emergency Shutdown – When Every Second Counts

Sometimes a single moment decides over safety and stability. Amid pressure, heat, and motion, it silently keeps watch in the background: the emergency shutdown.

It intervenes when all other systems fail – fast, automatic, uncompromising. Whether in case of overpressure, excessive temperature, or power failure: the emergency shutdown isolates, blocks, and protects. It is the last shield of your plant – and the first guarantor of safety.

The emergency shutdown is often part of a Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and subject to a SIL (Safety Integrity Level) rating to ensure it operates reliably in an emergency.

Check Valve – The Silent Hero of Your Plant

In every plant, a medium – water, steam, gas – flows purposefully through pipes and valves. But what happens when it suddenly starts flowing back?

That’s where it comes into play: the check valve. Invisible yet indispensable, it protects your processes from contamination, pressure damage, and system failures. It immediately detects when something is moving in the wrong direction – and reliably shuts off.

This consists of a shut-off valve, a pressure/temperature sensor, and the type 7401 safety controller. It protects a downstream network/plant/heat exchanger, etc., against over-/underpressure or over-/undertemperature.

This emergency shutdown sytem consists of two shut-off valves, two pressure/temperature sensors, and the type 7402 safety controller. The dual-channel emergency shutdown system protects a downstream network/plant/heat exchanger, etc., against over-/underpressure or over-/undertemperature.

The single-channel check valve consists of a control valve and a differential pressure gauge, and monitors the flow through the valve assembly using a differential pressure transmitter. If a defined limit is undershot, backflow against the flow direction can no longer be excluded. The single-channel check valve safely shuts off the pipeline in a safety-related manner.
