The plant manager expects production to always make the best product in a safe and reliable manner. Obviously at minimum cost, risk and disruption. Thanks to this general business objective, the entire production is always under a magnifying glass. On top of that, the factories are aging and the maintenance teams are getting smaller. How do you deal with this?
Workhorses
Look at the control valves in your production. The control valves are the workhorses that are busy 24/7 keeping your most important processes on the right track. How healthy are the control valves in your plant really? When is maintenance needed? And what needs to be done? Do you even have the time to monitor all that yourself?
Sensors
The same applies to the sensors in your plant. One failing sensor can have serious consequences for production. How are the sensors doing? And is the DCS still doing what it's supposed to do?
Support
Fortunately, there are software tools available today that can provide valuable support to both your production and maintenance. These tools can give you timely warnings. In this way, they prevent minor issues from leading to serious and costly problems. Prevent loss of production, unnecessarily high maintenance costs and product rejection and make use of these tools. Determine for yourself where the pain points are and start with a pilot.
